In 1861 the population of the parish (including the burgh of Inverness) was, according to the official returns, 16162, against 16496 in 1851 - a decrease of 334 - but the introduction of the railway has made a considerable increase since that, as well as a general improvement in the town and parish. There is no detached portion of this parish in any other, nor is there a detached portion of any other parish in this. |
