020 ; 030 ; 031 ; 042 ; 043 "The valley of Strath Nairn which forms more than nine-temths of the united parishes of Daviot and Dunlichity, is in figure, nearly though not quite, tri-angular, and extends from Wester Abercalder, at its south western extremity, in a north western direction widening considerably towards the middle; the chain of precipitous and rugged cliffs which constitute a wall on its north side separating it from the parish of Dores; there suddenly breaking off; thence rapidly inclining to the bridge of Daviot on the Highland road where the strath may be said to terminate in a very steep and narrow glen". Not more than one sixth of the strath is cultivated, the remainder being heather and plantations. The River Nairn runs through it, and it is in the hands of several proprietors.

031 This name is given to a small stream rising a short distance to the south west of Carn Dubh and runs northwestward until it enters the Flichity Burn about a mile and a half from Flichity House.
It means stream of the red plain.
