It extends along the south west side of Loch Ness, but is for the most part separated from that lake by a narrow range of hills. It forms an upper table-land cut across by the rivers Foyers & Farigag, The Strath is comparatively broad and open and expands do the north into a wide and elevated plain, occasionally tunnulated with hills. It is variously in meadow, arable, & moorland, and it has a cincture of granite heights which shoot aloft in numerous naked summits."
