044 | [Situation] In the west end of Balcalk Plantation This name applies to a Rocky Slope or Bank about 9 feet high, overlooking a level circular portion of ground. There is no tradition connected with it It is mearly supposed that Roman Catholics met here for Public worship. Others again suppose it to have been Covenanters. Revd [Reverend] Mr. Elder Parish Minister concurs with the former supposition and affirms that the Covenanters never established themselves in this part of the Country. |
