I could get no information respecting the actual site of this battle, but the position marked on trace, the Revd. [Reverend] Mr. Cæser States to be very likely, so far as is now known, to be the site of battle. Mr. Caeser says, in Some old histories, (works of Hector Boethius for instance), this battle is described as having taken place north of the woods at Panmure; and a letter in his possession, written by the late Revd. [Reverend] Dr. [Doctor] Trail, mentions the ground between Panmure woods and Crombie Mill as being likely to be the place where the battle in question was fought. I have made enquiry in the neighbourhood, and could not find one person who had ever heard about this battle; nor could I glean any information respecting the finding of bones, pieces of armour or weapons, stone coffins &c. There are no remains of military defences, nor marks of any having ever been on the ground
