051 | [Situation] In the western Side of Panbride Ph. [Parish] near the S E [South East] of Panmure Gardens. This Castle was situated on high ground, on the north side of Batties Den, and contiguous to the Panmure Gardens. There is no part of the building now visible, but its foundations or site can be traced by an elevated mound, covered with grass, which extends along the South and west Sides, but becomes broken & irregular along the East and north Sides. Within the area enclosed by the foundations, about 40 years ago, several vaults or arches were to be seen, which have been removed: for what purpose they were erected is unknown. There is no record which I could find to fix the date of the building of this Castle; the time of its demolition I was also unable to determine.
