Two large reservoirs belonging to the Dundee Water Company.
The east or main reservoir is denominated the "Settling Reservoir". Its computed superficial area is about 74 acres, and extreme depth 28 feet. In it the water is collected from streams springs &c. and being in an impure state is allowed to settle. On its western side are two small stone erections with sluices attached, containing filtering apparatus, through which the water passes when descending into the lower or "Clear Water Basin".
The smaller or west reservoir is named the "Clear Water Basin". Its superficial are[a] is 17 acres and extreme depth 8 feet. The water in this Basin is clear, and in a proper state to be conveyed through pipes to the works in Dundee - At the N.W. [North West] corner of this Basin is
