045 | [Situation] In the north end of Monikie Ph. [Parish] The ruins of this old castle stands upon a small mound of earth, apparently artificial, and rising to the height of about sixteen feet above the level of the ground on which it stands. The south side is covered with forest trees, a row of which extends round its base. On the summit stand the ruins, the walls of which are about six feet thick and little more in height. It is about ten feet square, the south side contains a doorway and each of the other sides, a window space The situation of it is rather on low ground at the eastern side of Downie Moor |
