Mr Lyall, Factor Lord Southesk Mr McGrigor Clerk Revd. [Reverend] Mr. Reid Memorials of Angus & Mearns |
034 | A handsome Stone Bridge of three arches over the South Esk on the principal Statute Labor or Parish Road in Maryton and the adjoining Parishes of Dun & Brechin. Between each of the arches there is a half oval projecting buttress which forms a nook or space on the top clear of the roadway across the Bridge. There is a gradual rise on the road both on the north & the south to the "Bridge of Dun", which therefore occupies a prominent position remarkable besides for the style of its architecture. It is a County Bridge. A Station near, but in the Parish of Dun, on the Scottish North Eastern Railway takes its name from this Bridge. |
