various | "This parish derives its name from a lake in the west end of the parish. It is bounded on the north by the parishes of Birse, Aboyne, and Glenmuick, in Aberdeenshire; on the west by Cortachy & Clova; on the south by the united parishes of Lethnot & Navar; and on the east by Edzell. It is situate among the Grampian Mountains the highest range of which separates it from Aberdeenshire. Mount Keen is the highest Mountain in the Parish being 3072 feet above the level of the sea.
