This name applies to a place on the South Side of Corbie Den where a church or place of worship at one time existed. It is not known at what time it fell into disuse but it is supposed to have been previous to the Reformation. Sylvester Gleg, Hatton, who dug up a part of the foundation, considers that there was a graveyard attached, as he, when ploughing the land around, found at different times quantities of human bones. The Revd. [Reverend] G. Loudon, supposes this to have been the parish church of Inverarity previous to the erection of the one at Fothringham House.
