"McComie having acquired a

he built a mansion house at
Crandart about a mile to the
north of the fine old Castle of Forther".

There are also remains of McComie's house at
Crandart, upon the chimney lintel of which
is the date 1660. and the initials of the founder
and his wife Catherine Campbell a daughter of the Laird
of Dedhead [Denhead] - and these words -" The Lord defend this familie"
