043 | A large two story high slate house with extensive offices and farm attached it is the Property of the Right Honourable Lord Wharncliff The following statement occurs in the Old and New Statistical Account "In the immediate neighbourhood is the farm of Ingliston, on a part of which, at one time, could be distinctly traced the outlines of an encampment." The examiners attention has been called to this and he states that "Mr. Stephenson the parish teacher wrote the New Statistical Account for the Parish Minister, and yet he states that he never knew, nor does he recollect having ever heard of an encampment on the farm of Ingliston, neither does the oldest inhabitants. If such a thing ever existed it cannot now be pointed out not even the site of it therefore it is not to be shewn on the plans. |
