054 | [Situation] On the north side of Hawkhill A neatly & substantially built School house in connection with the Independents in which 90 Boys & 50 Girls are instructed, the former in Reading, Writing, History, Arithmetic & Book keeping and the latter in Reading Writing, Arithmetic & Knitting, Sewing and Crochet work. The building was erected in 1856 & in honor of one of the ministers of the above sect (Mr. Russell) was named after him. It is supported entirely by voluntary contributions and the Master's salary 60£ per annum, as well as that of the ministers £30, is provided for in like manner It is situated on the North side of Hawkhill adjacent to the Hawkhill Brewery |
