054 This name is applied to a large and handsome building situated between the Pitkerro & Forfar Roads.
"The Hospital is for the education, lodging tending & clothing of one hundred boys, the sons of tradesmen, mechanics, and persons of the working class generally, whose parents stand in need of assistance. No boy will be admitted until he shall have attained the age of Nine years Complete; and no boy will be permitted to remain in the Hospital after he shall have attained the age of 14 years Complete.
In order to the admission of any boy it will be necessary that it be established to the Satisfaction of the Governors that either the father or mother of such boy is or if dead was an inhabitant of Dundee, Forfar, Arbroath, or Montrose, but the sons of persons, inhabitants of; and born and educated in Dundee are to have the preference. Board of Governors The Provost of Dundee, The Sherrif, The Minister of the Ph. [Parish] of Dundee, The Dean of Guild, Convene of Nine Trades, & the Deacon of the Fraternity of Maltmen." The Hospital was opened in 1868. it was built & is supported by money &c bequeathed by the late Mr. Morgan.
