Wilson Hillside 053 [Situation] In the SW. portion of the parish of Liff & Benvie This is pointed out as the Site of what is supposed to have been an old Castle, but by Whom erected or at what period of time, there is now nothing known either Historical or Traditional. There is nothing in the appearance of the ground to point out the exact spot on which the building stood, but all agree in saying that it was in this Plantation but whether it Covered the whole quadrangular space planted or not, no person can tell. About four years ago the workmen Excavated some large stones, the foundations of Walls; some of the stones had marks of Iron fastenings and others bore rude characters & figures which could not be deciphered.
