Back Boath

From what the Revd. [Reverend] Mr. Bell states, there is no doubt but
the name Back Boath ought to be written in two words -
not in one word. He says it is called Back Boath
in contradistinction to the Boath in Panbride Ph. [Parish]
This makes the case the same as if it was called
North Boath, the words North and Back being
mainly distinctive terms
See papers attached to N [Name] Sheet of "Site of Chapel" at
Back Boath, in which the Chapel is termed the
"Chapel of Both" - not the Chapel of Back Boath.
this term Back seems to have been introduced in later
times for the purpose of distinguishing the farms from
each other.
