033 A wellknown name applying to an open spring well about a half mile to the west of Aberlemno Church. The name which is widely known, has its origin from water Hens frequenting the place. There is a watering Trough at the well. ''Hen Well'' is the source of the stream which is called River Kaircock in the first part of its course and afterwards ''Melgund Burn''- as it passes through the Estate of Melgund.

033 A little village or hamlet to the west of the Church. It takes its name from the Hen Well, but by all authorities referred to in the Parish, it is never used to the streamlet which passes it in direction of Aberlemno. The Name of the Stream between the Church and the Farm of Flemington (Trace 3) is called River Kaircock.
There is a P. [Post] Office at Henwellburn.
