All the buildings are in good repair and were erected by the Heritors of the parish, the average number of Scholars attending it is about 70. The teachers Salary is besides Scholars the Minimum with an allowance for teaching four poor Children from a Mortification by John Wood of Orkie, he having Mortified that Estate for the purpose of erecting and Maintaining a free Grammar School in the Ph. [Parish] the 4 children are taken into the School at about the age of 7 years and are kept to the age of 14 during that period they are educated, clothed and kept in the teachers house at the Expence of the Mortification. |
