The remains of a large Mansion House on the Estate of Largo. and close by the West side of the present Mansion, the remains consist of a circular Tower, three storys high about 15ft in diameter, slated and in good repair the walls of it are a substantial stone building about 6ft thick. the barony of Largo was confer'd by James 3 in the year 1482. on Sir Andrew Wood, his naval Commander who is said to have inhabited this building. it is also supposed to have been a Jointure House of the Queens of Scotland_ on a marble Slab inserted in the wall of the tower a few years ago by the late General Durham, is given the Copy of the Charter granted to Sir Andrew Wood by James 3.
