024 | [situation] About 30 Chains N.N.E. [North North East] of Balgonie Castle. An inconsiderable artificial mound of earth, in the plantation adjoining the south side of the road leading from Markinch to Milltown, ie 13 chains West of the sharp turn in the road & 20 Chains N.N.E. [North North East] of Balgonie Castle. Between 60 and 70 years ago Roman Urns and Coins were found here by a man who was at the time, cutting the ditch on the South side of the mound, they were given to the Earl of Leven, the laird Balgonie Estate at that time, the man that found them is yet alive & resides in the village of Milltown. |
