024 [Situation] 1¾ miles N.W. [North West] of Markinch.
The Walls of part of an ancient building bearing this name. It is Situated in low flat land but from the thickness of the walls and the general appearance of the remains it must have been a place of some Strength. There is nothing known of the date of its erection or manner of its destruction.
Mr. Ballingal Says that part of the building (of which there are no remains at present) extended farther Eastwards, he thinks it was allowed to go into natural decay, and that it was the property of Some petty Chieftan under the principle Baron in the Feudal times.
It has the appearance of having been erected at the same time with Knockdavie Castle and Seafield Tower of which there is no information given in any of the local Histories.
