020 | [situation] In Cellardyke. The Harbour of Cellardyke is in a good state of repair, it is used by nothing but fishermen. In 1829 the Board of Trustees for the improvement of fisheries advanced £1200 for the improvement of it, with £500 which the fishermen of the town raised for building new quays, but instead of improving the harbour it is said to have injured it. The fishermen are said to be very prosperous in their calling. The name "Skinfast Haven" is not popularly known although it is the name given in all documents etc. connected with the Harbour. |
