026 An iron chair of a circular cage shape and large enough to hold 8 or 10 persons. it is fixed on the flat of the rocks called the East Vows and is supported by Six iron bars on which it is raised about 8 feet above the level of spring tides. It was erected by the commissioners of the Northern Lighthouse Company, as a place of refuge for shipwrecked Mariners and others. One of the supporting posts of the chair is a ladder construction by which persons may get on and off it.
