It was built in the year 1620 by the then proprietor of Balcarres Estate but as soon as it was completed some dispute arose about the appointment of a Clergyman to officiate in it it being originally intended for a place of worship for the family only. the proprietor sooner than give it up to public use took off the roof in which state it still remains the interior is used as a burying place by the Lindsays of Balcarres. |
