A parish in Fifeshire on the shore of the frith of forth the surface of the parish is beautifully deversified by rising ground & the whole has been brought to a high state of cultivation. It was in riding from Inverkeithing towards the Castle of Kinghorn that Alexander III [3rd] was killed in 1285 - 6 an accident which occasioned so much trouble & shedding of blood in Scotland. Near the rock fatal to Scotlands peace is a mineral well which was rather famous in early times.
The parish is in the Presbytery of Kirkcaldy and Synod of Fife. Patron the Earl of Strathmore. the parish church is situated in the ancient royal burgh of Kinghorn which is the principal town in the parish. it was built in 1774 and contains sittings for about 700.
A portion of the parish including Westbridge has been annexed to the quoad sacra parish of Invertiel or Westbridge.
