A considerable Stone building nearly in the centre of the Town The Tower of the Church is supposed to be abt. [about] 800 years old. the body of the Church is of very recent date. In the Tower is placed an excellent Clock, and a few old bells of Dutch manufacture. It is the Parochial Church.

An ancient stone pillar with capital, bearing various coats of arms, surmounted by a unicorns head which represents the crest of Borough Arms - it fomerly stood in the centre of the High St. it was removed in consequence of being an obstacle to traffic.
