035; 039 [situation] In the Western division of the Co. [County] of Fife.
A parish in Fifeshire, consisting of the ancient parish of that name, and of the parish of Rosyth which were united in 1636. It is of a very irregular form, its general figure (exclusive of that part called the Ferry Hills) resembles two arms stretched out nearly at right angles, embracing a part of the parish of Dunfermline, and nowhere much exceeding a mile in breadth. The Frith of Forth is the southern and part of the eastern boundary of the parish. Dalgety on the East and Dunfermline on the north and west. The island of Inchgarvie about ½ way cross the Firth is in this parish. It is in general well enclosed, diversified with fields, plantations, &c [et cetera]. The Royal burgh of Inverkeithing is situated near the eastern end of the parish and beside the burgh there are two smaller villages called North Queens Ferry, and Hillend. There are also some antiquities &c [et cetera).
