[Quotation] Page 194 Smalls Antiquities.

" The ancient rocking Stone of Balvaird mentioned by old authors though now never taken notice of for nearly two hundred years, Since the time Oliver Cromwell's Soldiers went past, who are said to have destroyed its vibratory powers."

According to this extract it appears that in former times the Rocking Stone was either on the lands of Balvaird or bore the name Balvaird Rocking Stone which is probable as the lands which constituted the Barony of Balvaird extended to the River Farg however at the present time it is not known by any other name save that authenticated in this page.
