It is supposed by some to have been built by James 6th for the use of travelers going between the royal boroughs of St. Andrews & Crail. (From subsequent Enquiry made in the locality, no date can be fixed for the erection of this bridge, only all agree in considering it to be old. There is no tradition regarding it.) |
