009 | [situation] About 5 chains East of the Parish Church of Auchtermuchty. A lage and handsomely built united presbyterian Church in the gothic style of architecture with buttresses. It has galeries all round its interior and an accommodation of six hundred sittings on a stone over its front entrance is the following inscription "Christo A.D. M.D.C.C.C.L.V." [A.D. 1855] the latter being the date of its total re-erection on its original site. the Minister is the Revd. [Reverend] Mr. Barlos. and his salary is £120 per ann: [annum] with a Manse and garden, the form [former] is raised by seat rents and voluntary contributions among his hearers. |
