On the spot hereindicated a quantity of stone coffins containing human bones were turned up by the plough a few years ago. From the ground being slightly raised here, this is conjectured to have been the site of a Tumulus. The overseer of the farm of Starr pointed out the spot and supplied the information - There is no tradition in the neighbourhood to throw any light on the discoveries made here. [Note] "A considerable number of stone coffins have been dug up behind the farm-house of Starr" New Stat. Acct. [Statistical Account] page 544.
