A small stream which Issues NNWest [North North West] of Upper Pitlochie flowing in a SSE [South South East] & South direction along the road to Gateside Supposed to have derived its name from the Earl of Morton who formerly Owned the lands adjoining It is styled the Morton Water in Some title deeds and Water of Morton in others

016 [Situation] ¾ Mile N.W. [North West] of Edentown
A narrow strip of mixed wood on the East side of road about midway between Upper Pilochie & Hole Mill the South side is precipitous. Doctor Small in his Antiquities supposes that a Roman Fort adjoins this wood on the highest point of the hill.
