016 | [Situation] ¾ Mile N.W. [North West] of Edentown A narrow precipitous inclosure planted with Firs & forest trees o the NE [North east] side of Bellfauld Road adjoining Windygates. Doctor Small is of opinion that a Roman fort was erected on the highest point of this inclosure the appearance of the ground and its Commanding position would lead the observer to the Conclusion arrived at by the above authority, a Similar Structure is supposed by Doctor Small to have been erected on the West side of road adjoining Windygates but from the strictest enquiry made they have not been authenticated by any other authorities. |
