The Sides of this hill except on the N.E. [North East] where it is Connected with the general range of the Ochills are Steep and it rises about 400 feet from the base, the Summit is surrounded by a chain of rocks upwards of 300 yds [yards] in Circumference which forms a sort of natural Citadel and is still called the Fort " Smalls Antiquities pages 187. 188 "The popular tradition of the Country makes it a Roman Camp at least it generally goes by that name but it is by no means as Correct as if they had called it a Roman Fort which it obviously seems to have been" |
