016 [Situation] ⅞ Mile E. [East] of Edentown
This tumulus or Cairn is South of the Pit of Sculls about 15 chs. [chains] it is a Circular mound planted with Fir fenced in with thorns it is about 66 feet in diameter and about 18 feet high having two long Stones lying on the top the Stones are about 5 feet long and about 18 inches broad on the Sides 4 in number meeting at a point thus [sketch]. They are Supposed to have been placed there by the late Col [Colonel] Miller!

position it seems to have been

raised about 4 feet above the level
of the brook, the earth being of a black
fattish like appearance on the Surface
but if any of the Stones are raised up
the earth below is the Color of burnt
brick from the intensity of the heat"
