The Site of this Cairn was pointed out by Mr Richard Staner who is the Owner & occupier of the land in which it is situated Doctor Small is of opinion that the Roman Army halted here and States thus

Note: In page 41 Archaeologia Scotica Col [Colonel] Miller Seems to differ with the above named Authority, whereas Doctor Small is of opinion that the Romans Marched by this Cairn Col [Colonel] Miller states
"The Caledonians appears to one to
have descended from their position
as I have already Stated, by the Hoglayers And through the fields of Urquhart toward
Merlsford. Agricola if we may judge
from the Shortness of his speech seems to have
lost no time in descending from his Camp
at Pitlour to meet the enemy."
Putting aside the difference of opinion Stated in this page one thing is Certain that a Cairn existed where pointed out by Mr Staner but whether of Roman or Caledonian origin is now probably impossible to determine It is south of Laceston about 25 ch [chains] on the North side of and adjoining the road between Kinneswood and Strathmiglo
