Independent of Mr Smalls writings the tradition of the Country and opinions of the people generally in this neighbourhood all agree in Supposing that a great battle was] fought at Meralsford and extended up the river as far as Burnside they build their Supposition on the fact of Such a numerous quantity of human bones Urns Coffins and other implements of war being found at different periods in and about the locality named
