A small village consisting of a number of detached rows of dwelling houses from one to two storys high. it contains one Public House, a grocers shop, a Free Church and School; An Iron cross is said to have formerly stood in or near the village but nothing is known of its position or what it represented, the name is supposed to be a corruption of "Iron Cross" it is the property of J.M. Hogg Esq; and occupied by agricultural labourers. |
