019 [situation] N. [North] West portion of the Parish of Crail.
This name applies to a large district of land in North West end of the Parish of Crail, which some 30 years ago was a wild uncultivated moor, but now entirely reclaimed and divided into farms. It derived its name from being at one time the property, and also a favourite hunting ground of one of the Kings of Scotland, who afterwards bestowed it on one of his favourites - it is now the property of George Hannay Esq. of Kingsmuir House.
