A small but well Constructed Mansion house and office houses all Slated and in good repair attached to it is a well enclosed garden and a farm 180 Acres of arable and wooded ground. but chiefly the former. It is the property and residence of Capt [Captain] A Cheape.
The following is from I M. Leighton's Hist[History] of F[Fife]. Vol. III page 80 "In the Year 1383. John de Wemyss of Reres and Kincardrum, ancestor of the Earls of Wemyss obtained from William Landalis. Bishop of St Andrews. a grant of the lands of le Murton. and Lathockar with the office of Constable of the Castle and City of St. Andrews.
