A large and well constructed mansion three storeys high, beautifully situated on the south side of the River Eden and surrounded by a large and well wooded demesne. It is built in the Castellated and Monastic style of architecture. The house as it now stands was erected by the late proprietress, Lady Mary Lindsay Crawfurd on the sire of an old fishing lodge built by one of the Earls of Crawfurd, there is no person inhabiting the house at this present time save a caretaker. It is the property of the Earl of Glasgow.
