A plain gothic building with belfry at the west end; and in good repair. It is seated for about 500, there is no gallery. The average number of communicants is 200, the number of attendants is about 400. A portion of the west end of the church is partitioned off for the purposes of a school, large enough to hold 100 scholars; the average number of attendants is about 70. The branches taught are, English, Latin, Greek, French, Arithmatic &c. There are two pupil teachers in the school who receive no government salaries. The Schoolmaster (George Officer) has a free house and garden, and £20 annually from the Free Church, along with which and the school fees amount to his salary. The Revd [Reverend] William Reid is the minister; he receives his stipend from the sustentation fund, likewise he has a free manse and garden.
