One Mile North of the Village of Torry A comparative New district chiefly inhabited by Colliers & in consequence of the great amount of employment afforded them by the Forth Iron Works. It was known by the Name of Annfield when Col[onel] Farqhharson purchased the Annfield Estate; but he changed its Name to Oakley the latter being the More Suitable Name, as the district abounds in Oak Timber. This district now comprises the greater part of the Annfield-Blair & Inzievar Estates which have all been purchased by the Company.

Immediately North of Oakley House A very extensive wood on the South side of the Stirling & Dunfermline Railway, from the quantity of Oak in this Wood gave rise to the Name "Oakley" to the district around it.
