Some of them contained ashes and he has no doubt that they were Roman.

There is a tradition here that at the time the Romans were enca,per on Camp Bank an opposing Force were stationed on Glassieburn, above the Castle Craigs, but from the nature of the ground the place was deemed sufficiently defective without any work being thrown up. There does not appear to be any remains on the Hill and no one in the neighbourhood ever heard of a Castle on it.
