A parish in the county of Fife, bounded on the South by Auchtertool, on the South east by Abbotshall On the east by Dysart, on the North by Kinglassie and Portmoak, and on the west by Ballingry. it is of an irregular form, about 5 miles long from north to south, and bout [about] 3 broad, Through it flows the Water of Orr from northwest to southeast, On the southern boundary of the parish is a sheet of water measuring nearly 3 miles in circumference, called "Loch Gelly" which discharges its waters by a small rivulet into the Orr - The parish throughout is generally well diversified with cultivated fields and plantations &c.
