It is a substantial building three storys high with underground cells Governors residence And such Accommodation as is usually Considered necessary for the Classification of Prisoners, debtors & criminals. it is enclosed by a high and substantial stone wall with a porter's lodge at the entrance and has with this suitable offices as storerooms, air sheds, cisterns for supplying the prison with water, the Average number of Prisoners Annually Amounts to 80, There is no chapel or other place of worship within the precents, it was built at the expense of the County |
