[situation] Passing between West Bridge and the end of High Street.
A stream or Burn rising to the west of Auchtertool flowing in a South and S.E. [Southeast] direction to the Firth of Forth where it Spreads in the Sands it is supplied by several small streams in its course. As it approaches the Sea between the Edinburgh Perth and Dundee Railway and the Forth is assumes the appearance of a small river more particularly between the West Bridge and the Coast. The inhabitants in their common conversation call it about Linktown the West Burn from it being on the West side of their locality
