The church of Invertiel was originally erected as a Quoad Sacra for the inhabitants of the East portion of Kinghorn Parish. at the Secession or disruption in 1843 the majority of the congregation with the then minister epoused the cause of the Free Church movement and has occupied the church since the above date in Communion with principles of the Free Church body.
The present Congregation has not any title to the church more than occupation Lord Rosslyn has not up to this date granted them any title to the ground or building.

The designation of this church cannot be written as the case stands, as stated in the descriptive remarks.

The Church was erected in the year 1837 as a Quoad Sacra Parish and continued as such to the year 1843 & called by many St. Catherines church but the Free Church Synod has adopted Invertiel Free Church.

The authorities given are all in favor of Invertiel Free Church but from the elasticity of the case it is left open for the officers decision.
