A stream or burn rising to the West of Auchtertool flowing in a S & S.E. [South & Southeasterly] direction to the Frith of Forth where it Spreads in the sands, it is supplied by several small streams in its course and as it approaches the sea between the Edinburgh Perth & Dundee Railway and the Coast it assumes the appearance of a small river more particularly between the West Bridge and the Forth. The inhabitants of Linktown in their common conversation call it the West Burn from its being on the west side of their locality |
